Community Speedwatch
In support of our Community Speed Watch volunteers our Community Policing Teams from Amesbury will be carrying our speed checks over the coming weeks in the following areas:
• Allington,
• Cholderton,
• Middle Woodford,
• Winterbourne Earls.

Insp Pete Sparrow added, "We are proud to support our fantastic Community Speed Watch Volunteers by allowing them the opportunity to identify to us the areas where we should prioritise for enforcement. We will continue to review our priority speed check areas based on the data they collect on our behalf. We make no secret of these areas and are happy to inform you of where we will focus our attention. Of course this does not prevent speed checks in other areas and I can only encourage you to please drive carefully and watch your speed."

PictureClick on the Plaque above for more about the QEII Fields in Trust scheme. The Winterbourne Playpark is now officially a Queen Elizabeth II 'Field in Trust' and will remain so for ever. This aims to permanently safeguard outdoor recreational spaces throughout the United Kingdom as a tangible, celebratory legacy from the Diamond Jubilee and as a permanent tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. The initiative had particular pertinence given the other landmark event that was scheduled to take place in the UK in 2012: the London Olympics.

New play equipment proving very popular with Winterbourne children

Queen Elizabeth II Field, Winterbourne has benefited from generous grants received from the SITA Trust (£25,000), Amesbury Area Board (£5,000) and Hills Group Limited via the Landfill Communities Fund (£7,200).

Refurbishment of this lovely site, next to The Winterbourne Arms and adjacent to the River Bourne in Winterbourne Dauntsey is now complete. New equipment includes a Jungle Climber, a Big City Slide and a Team Swing, plus a double Cradle Swing and two Spinners. Local residents were heavily involved in the ground preparation works, which saved over £10,000 on the overall budget and local children’s groups helped to choose the equipment.
